And the Winners Are...

The Vogue Living Alessi Design Prize Celebrates the Quality and Innovation of Australian Design By Pairing It With One Of the World's Most Recognised and Creative Brands

This year, in recognition of the diversity of our design talent, we have added the Emerging Designer Prize. Together with the Established Designer Prize, these two awards will be acknowledged globally, and they present an incredible opportunity for the winners. We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Alessi Design Award in Established and Emerging Designer category below.

The Suono Speaker, is the reimagining of a portable Bluetooth speaker, which was designed to sit atop a desk, be mounted to a wall or simply carried as a portable hand-held speaker.

“More than ever people move and adapt whether they’re at work or home,” says Fereday, “I wanted to create a speaker that could be cherished and carried with you no matter where you move or travel to.”

With a mission for sustainability and to make a positive impact on the environment, Kennyjie’s innovative design for the Rotolo Shopping Bag is an optimistic step in the right direction.

“Rolling is a very intuitive gesture of tidying up,” he says. “So I thought about how we could make a product that will facilitate this intuitive behaviour and encourage sustainable practices such as carrying a re-usable shopping bag.”

Designed as a super lightweight-yet-durable bag that can be unwound from a pocket-sized tablet, the shopping bag has secured Kennyjie’s winning spot at this years Alessi Design Awards and the opportunity to travel to Milan to present the Rotolo Shopping Bag to the Alessi family in the hopes of it being put into production under the iconic Alessi brand.

Giving a heartfelt speech at the awards, the young designer thanked his friends and family for getting him to this point, admitting it was just a few years ago he was "washing dishes at a restaurant".
