John Truex
John Truex (b. 1982; MFA Cranbrook Academy of Art 2006) produces furniture and product with emphasis on micro-industrial processes, exploring ways to incorporate tools of mass production into hand worked objects. As a designer for Stephen Burks and later Dakota Jackson, John contributed to a diverse range of projects - from Calvin Klein fragrance bottles to custom Steinway pianos. Work from his New York studio has been exhibited internationally, and recent projects include kitchenware for Alessi and the ongoing process of launching a cast iron skillet manufacturing company, Borough Furnace. He teaches in the Industrial + Interaction Design Department at Syracuse University.
